Our April luncheon was hosted by Debby Peck at the Cryin' Coyote in Cave Creek. Serving Tasty Smoked Beef Brisket & Pork Ribs near Carefree, AZ

Established in 2023, family-owned Cryin’ Coyote Barbecue is the Cave Creek BBQ restaurant specializing in slow-smoked barbecue meats, including ribs, brisket, chicken, and pulled pork.

Their meats are carefully smoked over Arizona pecan wood, resulting in a unique and flavorful barbecue experience that locals from the Cave Creek & Carefree AZ area and visitors alike have come to love.

The Daytrippers 1 group finished off a wonderful year with a Trip to the Phoenix Art Museum and it’s Barbie display! Followed by lunch at the Spaghetti Factory and a surprise Birthday celebration for Julie Evert, who started this group with Fay Giordano many years ago!!

Daytripper2 visited the Clydesdale Preservation Foundation in Gilbert on April 27th.  The foundation is privately run with active (not rescue) horses with a mission to promote, educate, and preserve the draft horse specifically the Clydesdale.  They also do community outreach, often hosting school children, and equine therapy.

We learned a lot about the horses and their dwindling numbers and everyone had an opportunity for a selfie with one of them, a fun and educational day.  

Although it’s an hour drive, we recommend visiting this worthy charity.  They request a $20 donation per visitor.  Also recommend the Coffee Shop at Agritopia for delicious sandwiches and salads.

A few of us Foodies members visited the Uptown Farmers Market, and then had lunch at Barrio Cafe.  Barrio Cafe is a James Beard Award Nominee.  Sadly after 22 years they are closing down in May.

We had our monthly luncheon on March 27th at the new Cooper’s Hawk Restaurant in Surprise. 

Our groups had such a wonderful uplifting day at the truly amazing Rusty's Angels Sanctury in New River. Emily Spears, the founder, has devoted all her time & energy to this incredible rescue home for senior dogs. The tour was extremely informative & we were all impressed with the tiny houses for the retirees, all the volunteers & staff , the medical clinic, the Farm of Hope, and of course loved all the dogs. Big & small all are so loved. Thank you Emily!!

We then ventured to Chilleens for a fab lunch & beverages!
